2020 art sale and exhibition
Born in Lubbock, Texas, Jody is the daughter of Conny Martin, artist, and C.B. Martin, retired builder and watercolorist. Jody never doubted that she would become an artist, and under her mother’s tutelage she learned classical drawing and contemporary design.
She earned her art degree from Abilene Christian University, and went on to study painting under Daniel Greene of New York. In Dallas, Jody worked as a studio artist and muralist. Her love of teaching led her to a job with the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD for sixteen years. She is now painting full time.
Of Conny Martin, Jody says, “My mother was larger than life. She was the most amazing person I’ve ever known; so full of joy and excitement over the little things, the textures and colors that surround us, and the thrill of making a painting ‘sing’. She filled my life with fun and adventure, and most importantly, I learned from her the love of painting this amazing world and the love of the creator who made it. My journey continues as I attempt to capture the soul beneath a face or the beauty of a moment!
