Kathleen Cook

Kathleen Cook, PSA of Kerrville, Texas is an elected signature member of the Pastel Society of America in New York, NY and has been a professional artist for the past 45 years. Kathleen considers her work to be contemporary realism with an emphasis on the figure, still life and landscape. A painter of light and color, Kathleen explores many themes from humorous storytelling to deeper inquiries into human nature. She uses the pastel medium almost exclusively, preferring it for its luminous color and versatility. After receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Texas Tech University, Kathleen’s professional art career has included 14 years as a fashion illustrator and advertising art director. Since 1981 she has been a full-time painter.

Kathleen’s work has been the subject of feature articles in American Artist and Southwest Art magazines and has won numerous top awards in national and international competition. Kathleen is also a teacher, a competition juror, a guest speaker and an advocate of sharing what she knows with young artists.   Cook is featured in Who’s Who in American Art and more of her work is visible on her website.
