2019 art sale and exhibition
Born in Oklahoma, raised in West Texas, Richard Thompson graduated from West Texas A&M with a BA and a major in Art. He spent several years as a commercial artist before turning his full attention to painting and sculpting. Although animals are his primary focus, he is equally at ease with other subject matter.
Thompson spends many hours searching for and observing the animals he sculpts and paints. “With each piece of sculpture, I have had a live model on hand at some point in the process. With a goal of producing work that is more than a clinical observation, I aim for an emotional connection which reveals more of the inner reality of the chosen subject.”
Thompson’s work can be found in numerous public and private collections. Solo shows include The Panhandle Plains Historical Museum in Canyon and The Woolaroc Museum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. This award winning artist lives and works in East Texas.
