Biography / Artist Statement
Critics consider Kim Mackey to be one of the finest artists in the state of Colorado.
He has exhibited at the Salmagundi Club in New York; the Oil Painters of American in Chicago and San Antonio; the Colorado Governor’s Invitation Show; the Coors Western art Show; the C.M. Russell Auction; the Gilcrease Museum; the American Art Invitational; the Phippen Museum; Bosque Art Classi; and the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, Connecticut, to name just a few.
His paintings hang in many distinguished collections including the Forbes collection and that of singer/songwriter Neil Diamond.
Kim has been featured in Art Revue; Art Talk; the Artist’s magazine; Southwest Art; Art of the West; Western Horseman and Cowboys and Indians Magazine.
The Denver Post has called him “A master of (his) genre.” Kim’s work was featured as the 60th National Appaloosa Show limited edition poster and has been featured on the cover of Western Horseman magazine. He received the Boren-Selvidge Award in 2017 from the Bosque Invitational Art classic. Kim is also featured in the recently published book, Painted Sky.
